Nick Haworth - Head of Content

OK, my name's Nick Haworth I'm head of content for Yell.com.

It's a really exciting place to work. Yell.com is an incredibly fast-moving fast-paced business. Yell.com is the biggest online directory in the UK.

Someone who does really well at Yell.com is someone who is very enthusiastic comes up with lots of ideas, because we're always doing lots of new things and coming up with new ways of working, and new products, so that's a very important characteristic.

The benefits of working for Yell.com both professionally and personally are that you really get something out of working for the business. We're in a very exciting new media space where there are lots of career opportunities. We're an expanding part of the business, and so there are lots of opportunities to develop your career.

If I could sum up Yell in one sentence especially Yell.com, it would be a place where you can really develop your career, you can have a really good time working on exciting projects with exciting people, and really make a difference.

If I was going to be a wild animal, I think I'd be a Kangaroo because I'm always hopping around from one place to another using with my Blackberry going from meeting to meeting, so I'd probably be a Kangaroo with a Blackberry.

Dawn Stockdale - Field Sales

My name's Dawn Stockdale, I'm a Field Sales consultant in the Bristol area.

Yell is a really innovative company to work for, it's constantly evolving and changing and keeping way ahead of what the market is demanding.

What I like most about working at Yell is the variety of the job. You go out and see all different customers all day long. Some customers are really corporate, some are really down to earth and friendly, and I love it.

The benefits for working for Yell, professionally, are that you're working for the best sales company in the UK, in my opinion and I think wherever you go, if you further your career outside of this business you are recognised as being the top, the elite sales team in the country and that's excellent. If you love sales then come and join me in a team where everyone is really passionate about what they do. There's a great level of competitiveness, it's really good fun and healthy.

If I was going to be an animal, I would be a lion, yes, because I like to be the leader of the pack. I like to be in complete control of what's going on around me, I'm very territorial, I like everyone to follow me and do what I say.

Diane Honey - Financial Analyst

Hi my name is Diane Honey and I'm a financial analyst in Yell's finance department.

I think what's special about the Yell brand is that we have three very highly regarded products on offer. The Yellow pages printed directory. Yell.com internet service and our 118-247 directories service and they're all household names and I think that's one hell of a brand.

I think there's a great diversity in the type of person working in Yell, but whoever they are, they've got to be flexible in their approach and committed to doing an excellent job.

I'd say Yell is a good employer to work for because they do invest in their people. I think what I most enjoy about working for Yell is the rapport I've been able to build up with my budget holders; I look after certain segments of the business; HR, Finance and the Legal Department.

I think the benefits for working for Yell, for me, are my ability to manage a work life balance. Finance is very demanding at times especially when we are dong the annual budget we know we have to work long hours but we can make up for it at other times, and you know, if there is a home emergency then its not a problem, its not frowned upon you can work around it.

If I were to be a wild animal, I'd like to be a dolphin. I'm a very keen scuba diver and dolphins know how to have fun.

Haleema Ghafoor - Telesales Consultant

Hi, my name's Haleema and I'm a Telesales Consultant within Yell.

I think what's really special about Yell is that we are a super brand and we're number one. I think the new, exciting innovations at Yell are that we now are going to be going from advertising world to going into generating sales leads for businesses and booming the internet market but still keeping the directory market; maintain and gain, which means there are great opportunities for both field sales and telesales.

And the type of person that would most enjoy Yell is someone that's fun to work with, hardworking, easy to get on with and someone that's got high aspirations in life and wants to achieve set goals.

Personally, there's a good work life balance and there's time-off incentives and you really are running your own business at Yell, you've got to have that mentality. I'm not a nine-til-five person and I like to think out of the box and Yell's that job for me.

What sales almost gets thought of is that you are left with a target or something to achieve, but at Yell the intensive training to help and support you get is immense and it goes on from day one to the last day of your life in the company.

If I was going to be a wild animal, I'd have to be an eagle. Because they're fast and they always get what they want.

Juliette Glossop - Senior Technical Consultant

My name's Juliet Glossop and I'm a Principal Solutions Consultant.

I've worked at Yell for 22 years so it's a good company to work in. It's been very useful for me as it's family oriented, everyone gets on really well. A good team culture.

The Yell brand has been around for a long time and it's gone from the old way and it's going, moving with the generations so even children, my kids' generation are using it, whether it be on the mobile, whether it be on the internet and we still have the book as well so I think it's just showing its diversity as a company.

I think you need to be flexible and be prepared for change. It is a fast environment of change in this company; you need to be open minded, come in with fresh ideas and full of energy.

I've sort of gone from training, HR, sales and IS and moved around within those departments and had plenty of training and further education opportunities.

I think with the world changing outside, we are an evolving company, and we're going hopefully ahead of everybody else and developing as a company.

If I was a wild animal, I'd be an elephant, due to their long memory, their loyalty and big back-side.
